Hi There! I like to mix various scrapbook papers to create interesting backgrounds for my scrapbook layouts. Its a fun way to have a unique look to my scrapbook pages. Heres a few things I think about when selecting papers to mix together to create a background sheet.

First I like to select papers that have different size prints. For example, on this layout I selected a large print paper and a medium size one.

After selecting a busy print paper, I like to look for one that is tone on tone or a simple small repeat print. In my case Im mixing this teal tone on tone with the busier print, because they both contain teal. This gives the background paper a harmonizing look.

Next, I decided on the sizes of each. In this case each scrapbook paper is cut to 6 wide, but I often vary the width.

I chose to use a sheet of solid cardstock to attach the two 6x12 pieces to. That way I have ½ a sheet of both papers to use on other layouts. But you can simply cut one of the sheets to 6 wide and adhere it to the other.

Check out my gallery for other examples of mixing various scrapbook papers to create unique backgrounds.

Happy Scrapping!
