Hi There! To add even more space to my steampunk junk journal I created a spider web booklet. I want my booklet to hold either a 4x6 journal card from the collection or a 4x6 photo, so I cut a 8 ½ x 11 sheet of black cardstock 9 inches wide.

Next I scored the sheet at 4 ½ on the 9 side and folded it in half to form a booklet that is 4 ½ wide.

The spider web punch will not punch through two layers of cardstock, so I needed to trim the back of the booklet. Heres how I did it.

I punched right top corner on the 9 side with a spider web corner punch. This gives me a guide where to cut the back of the booklet. Fold the booklet, then mark where the bottom of the spider web punch ends. Now cut off the top section of the back of the booklet using the mark as a guide.

Once the section on the back is removed, I can slip the top left corner (side near the fold) of the booklet into the corner punch and punch that side. The hard part is now done! Yeah!

Trimmed the booklet to be 7 long from under the spider web punch. To help guide where to cut you can adhere a 4x6 journal card, then trim the bottom edge. I made my tag a bit longer, so I could add a strip of decorative paper below the photo or journal card.

To trim the booklet I attached a strip of paper between the two spider web corners. Used a 1 ¼ punch to cut two black circles, and a 1 punch to cut two circles from pattern paper. They were layered, then attached to the front of the booklet for additional decoration.

Finally, I attached a strip of paper to the bottom of each page in the booklet leaving enough room for either a 4x6 journal card or photo.

This booklet was a bit challenging, because the punch would not punch through both layers. Im glad I developed this technique, because I love how the booklet looks in my steampunk journal.

Happy Scrapping!
