Hi There! I like to piece together different pattern papers to create a fun look on my scrapbook layouts. Often people cut two different 12x12 papers in half, then piece them together, but I like using a 7 : 5 ration better.
Why? For a couple reasons. First, if both halves are 6 wide, then the layout has a symmetrical feel. So I either have to keep everything symmetrical or I need to work at breaking up the symmetry, which can make things look a bit off.
Second, 4x6 photos are a common size. By making one side 7 wide I have a nice border around my 4x6 landscape photos.
The 5 side is ideal for a vertical line of embellishments. Plus there is plenty of room for the scrapbook layout title.
7 : 5 layouts are a favorite of mine and once you give them a try I think youll love them too.
