I was asked to make a couple of cards for a coworker who is retiring this week for everyone to sign. I do this a lot now and try to make them personal with things that pertain to that individual. Obviously, this lady is a rock music fan. I was going to go more kitschy 80's/ hairband look but ended up with this instead. Oh well. I think it still works.
The background was created with a couple of stencils. I used Versamark through the brick stencil to keep the white of the background and then applied gray and black inks over that to create that coloring in the mortar. I used a second rose stencil with just simple red ink for the larger roses. The guitar was fashioned with a combo of dies and hand cutting. The roses were part of an embossing folder pressing that I fussy cut. I also cut up a flourish die to wind the vines around the guitar.
I did use the Taylored Expressions Christmas tree stacklets die set for starting the triangle shape of the guitar. I also used Elizabeth Crafts Alphabet 1 - Caps die set for the "ROCK" lettering. And finally, used a striped Sizzix/Stampin' Up embossing folder to add interest/texture to the guitar neck. The vines were cut with Cottage Cutz Large Leafy Flourish.
