I still have kitties and cities on the mind. And, another late birthday card. The birthday is today, actually, so at least I will have mailed it on time. I guess I'd better keep the sentiment stamp on my desk for a while.
My imagination says this is a scene inside a penthouse apartment in some big city with the lights glowing through the rain in the background, and someone just having received a beautiful, warm bouquet of flowers. Well, she doesn't live in a big city, and I hope the weather is good for her, and she'll have a dog to inspect the delivery vs a curious orange cat (also cut from a previous mica spray panel). However, I was playing and thought it worked. She's a vet, lives out on the east coast, but she sent my dog a get well bouquet of flowers last month! He's better now. I'd have used dogs, but my only dog dies are more cute, and I wanted to use the elegant Tim Holtz 665996 "Mischievous" dies. Maybe I could have used the Stampin' Up! Scottie punch, but still a little too cute for the card mood.
I used the Tim Holtz 666292 "Dotted" Texture Fades embossing folder on a background I created a couple months ago using the mica sprays, and then highlighted the "city lights" with "Gilded" Foundry wax. Sloppy, but I think it suited the card.
Tim Holtz 666284 "Brushstroke Flowers, Mini" for the flowers. And, I learned how to make TH cardstock. Well, I actually sprayed two to three different colors of Ranger Distress Spray Stains for each color group onto white heavy cardstock, then cut out the flowers three times (using each color) so I could layer. I'm not even half way to having all the Spray Stains, and I think I used just about all the colors I do have, aside from neutrals.
I meant to add a sparkle spritz to all the floral cutouts, but forgot. I did grab all my Stampin' Up! Stampin' Write Markers to try and match up colors so I could edge all the cuts, as I decided I did not like the white edges on the die cuts. I came pretty close to color matching most.
