I made this slimline card long before they were popular. I had envisioned using my new die set this way and needed room to fit the dies on one piece of cardstock, lol.

First, I die cut the butterfly from the center of 110lb Neenah CS, then die cut the flowers from either end. (I picked up the 2nd die set on sale) Ive made this card so many times that Ive made myself a template to avoid all that measuring over and over!

I also cut the dies three times from Lawn Fawn Licorice CS and set them aside. At some point during the making, I watercolored a gradient rainbow across a piece of Canson XL 140lb cold press watercolor paper using Dr. Ph Martins Hydrus Fine Art Watercolors. While my watercolor was drying, I put a piece of acetate behind my floral and butterfly cuts in the white paper. I then stacked my black CS die cuts (gluing 2 layers completely together and gluing the third layer on top only in the centers) and added them to the front of the acetate, using an inlay techniquebut only with the die cut itself, not the negative pieces.

Then came the tedious part! At least its the part I dont enjoy: the adhering of the foam tape. It wouldve been fine if I had done only a single layer, and only around the edgesbut I wanted to fill each die cut area with different color beads. Silly me. So I popped it up on foam tape, running between each die cut, and in 2 layers to give it plenty of shaking room.

I mounted that onto a desert storm note card and used a clear Wink of Stella brush on the flowers and butterfly and pulled up the outer edges to give them dimension.

I totally forgot about my sentiment until I was photographing it. I was at a loss because Id really left no room for one. If you ever find yourself in my place (please tell me Im not the only one who forgets), vellum is a good choice since it doesnt really obscure any part of your design. I dug through my turnabouts, searching for the Oh, Hello and used the hi there sentiment on vellum, cut it out as a banner with my scissors, and adhered it in line with the back CS piece. Since the sentiment looked a little out of place and lonely up there by itself, I cut a tiny heart from red foil Craft Perfect CS and adhered it in the upper left corner, which draws the eye down to the red watercolor.

If you like this card, give it a cheer or a heart, or comment below. Id be happy to answer questions if I wasnt clear about something.

Thanks for reading!
