Nice job--I agree that adding all the pics willmake a differnece. I think you need something in the background but I love alot of patterned paper so it is probably just my personal preference coming through!
I think it's a really cute lo. When you get the other photos on, that will make a big difference. Also, you might consider adding a word to the front of your tag pocket (maybe something having to do with the journaling.) Just a suggestion. :)
After a second glance, you have a nice color-blocking technique going. Perhaps you could mat ERIC and the elephant in that "block"?
I really like the use of ribbon and layering!
It is a good layout! I do agree the elephant is the only element that seems to need a little something. He's kind of floating in all that space around him while everything else seems stable. Perhaps you could put a little "grass" or "ground" under his feet? A piece of ribbon or cardstock with a bit of roughness on at least the top edge might be nice (like tearing the top of a piece of "beige" cardstock or a short piece of the green rick-rack).
This is a layout I tried doing with alot of layering. On the left top, there are three tags that come out to display journaling (that I havent done yet). On the right are two 3X3 photo boxes that need pictures too!
