Chisa, in the blue shawl, and I were childhood friends. Our parents became friends and, unlike me and Chisa, kept in touch over the years. The last time Chisa and I had met was in 1989 when she was in college and I had just started my first real job in D.C. I was so surprised when my parents said she was in town with her parents (they all live in Japan) visiting her brother (who lives in Maryland) and wanted to meet for dinner. Of course I said YES! There was so much to talk about and we could have stayed for hours.except our parents were pooped after nearly 4 hours of nonstop eating and chattering.
