Flying High in Papantla

This city in Mexico is famous for these guys that sit up on the top...lean backwards , let go and slowly rotate....rope uncoils all by itself and eventually they all end up on the ground! The guy sitting up on top slowly rotates and plays the flute while this happens. It's wonderful to watch. This pole is located just inside the ruins of Tejin and these four costumed men perform this about every half hour all day long. Little note along the side says...Papantla=vanilla capital of Mexico and famouse for these high flyers. This is where all that wonderful Mexican vanilla is grown and processed. This whole area smells wonderful!
