#FASF 2024 - Day 2

Each year, we celebrate the new year with traditional Japanese dishes (both food and food vessels) followed by watching the Kohaku Uta Gassen (its an end-of-year red-and-white song festival, which has aired on NHK for 74 years now). A little before midnight, my dad (used to be my mom) prepares a small portion of soba noodles (noodles for long life) and a bit of bubbly. This year he also bought a very special bottle of sake. As they get older, it gets harder and harder for the to make it to midnight but each year they rally to make me happy.

In the envelope is my journaling, which I covered. The gist of it is how 2023 was a rough year, especially for my dad. (After chemo, he developed a clot in his jugular vein, which led to his arm and hand being extremely swollen.) Despite all the misfortune, we still had a lot of laughs, are still independent, and still moving forward with hope.

I love that resist border - its from Hot Off the Press and is pre-embossed so you can just add your color medium of choice. I use it sparingly!!
