Very nice doodles - I particularly like the squiggly lines to the bottom left of WISH. My only crit would be that the "H" in WISH is a little hard to distinguish as an H, but not worth sweating. Nice job.
I love the way you arranged the photos. I guess I would vote with the others to mat the pictures, even maybe a double mat of red/blk all in one piece to go with the flow of your doodles.
I like the wispy feel of this lo. For the title, though, I would've gone with blue, and then used red accents throughout the page. Still, I like just the black and red. I'm with Robyn on filling in some of the leaves at the bottom to balance out the red in the title. I think this will also help to give more definition to your doodles as leaves. I'm also with K on thin red mats for the photos, but I can also see a pair of red and black brads on each of them, instead. Finally, I'm also with Tiff on the doodle borders. One more thing--that black block at the top comes across as too bold as is. Try adding filled-in and outlined stars in white gel pen.
Those doodles are really cool, very interesting. My only suggestion would be to mat the photos. I like Tiffs idea of the red but you could also try black to see what it would look like. Great job on the challenge!!!
So cool and so much at which to look! You did some really creative doodling and the journaling is beautiful and heartfelt! I think that if you matted the photos in red it would make a strong difference. I can live with the bold "wish", if you make some of the red lines at the bottom right bolder and thicker to balance the layout. KWIM? The only other change I might make is a doodle border on the right side (and part of bottom) of the paper. Angela, I think you did an amazing job and this is going to mean a lot to your little one years from now!
Okay I have to add that I don't think it looks bad but the photo placement could be better. If the photos were to be a wave, you should position them so that at least half of the photos are touching. Either that or arrange them linearly going horizontal along the page or into a big triangle. It's difficult to change now, but keep in mind for next time.
Love the doodles also, think maybe for future reference the pics would have become more focal if you would have matted them in red also. Like K's idea of calming the letters with some white doodles on them. You did a great job with this and the kids are just are adorable.
Hi Angela .. I think you handled the doodles awesomely. I love that they contour some of the photos. Tres cools. I like the red wish but I do agree with Robyn that it's the most prevalent {and the photos should be that item}. I would add white doodled inside the title to offset this!
This is very nice Angela! I am in love with that little dress you drew and I'm digging your leaves on the bottom. I can see some more room for doodles in your upper right hand corner. I think there is a little too much empty space there and it's throwing off the balance of the page for me. I can also see some black doodles inside your "wish" letter. Just a little too much stark red, kwim? Either that or to further balance I would color in some portions of the leaves bottom/right in solid red to mimic your title. You made this challenge look easy! Very well done!
The challenge was to use http://www.scrapbook.com/myplace/index.php?mod=galleries&u=143085&m=view&id=694147&page=1&r=3 as an inspiration and this was my result. Journaling reads: "If you find yourself one day in life stuck in a spot, I wish you no worries! I wish you SPONTONAITY...and a FRIEND to share it with. I wish you LAUGHTER, lots of laughter, whenever you need it! I wish that you will keep your INDIVIDUALITY and own sense of STYLE, rain boots and all. Be happy, be strong, be a great friend, but most of all...be YOU!" By "Spontonaity" I added "try new things", "be silly sometimes", "joie de vivre" ('joy of life'), "(only vaccuum when you have to!!!)", "don't sweat the small stuff" and "be young at heart". By "laughter" I added "joy", "exuberance", "passion" and "fun". By "style" I added "always be you". Beside "Wish" is the song I first sung to her, "If I had words, to make a day for you, I'd sing you a morning golden and true" The journaling in the bottom left reads "There will be times when you will be challenged, when all will seem unfair, when you will want to know WHY! I cannot with you perfection but I can wish that you know courage, that your inner strength will see you through and that you will always know that you are loved, 'mommy '07" (all writing is my own except for the song quote) Everything but the photos is hand drawn.
