I've seen this before and I totally thought I left a comment! This is so cool! I love all the doodles and journaling. This is awesome and goes perfect with this song and the video!
Yes! Such a funny video and a great band. Their concerts are always so good, because we like every song. But then, because we like every song, we think of all these songs they didn't play. Anyway, I'm biased, I think this is lo is way cool. The out of focus feel that your lo has is definitely appropriate to your subject. And I've always liked that Zooropa alien/astronaut head. My only critique--call me crazy--is that I would have liked to see more room left throughout the text for some doodling that comes from your own original ideas.
I made this for a doodle challenge, and it really DID challenge me. I had been wanting to do a U2 LO anyway (my favorite band in the world) and the doodle challenge had me thinking about one of their coolest songs, "Numb."
In the video, Edge is sitting in front of the camera, facing and mesmerized by what appears to be a flickering tv screen. All manner of weird things are done to him, all kinds of sensory input, yet he just keeps on singing in that low monotone with that ripping, tearing guitar in the background... and an inexorable beat. He feels numb... too much is not enough.
With this LO, I wanted to capture images from the vid, the ZOOROPA tour, and use the words of the song to capture the humongous overload, that overwhelming input today that just keeps us wanting more and more... too much is not enough. So much input it's hard to focus. But when you do focus on this LO, there are words to pay attention to.
I think we all, sometimes, feel NUMB.
(This is the best stitching I could do -- those words just didn't want to stitch/composite well.)
