This was originally in the Basic Grey contest. I moved it to here by accident instead of re-uploading it and I can't figure out how to get it back to the old folder because it's missing from the list.

Pleading my case: The most unique thing about this layout is that the lettering is hand-done. It was hand-sketched, then painted by hand with acrylic paints and then chalk was applied to create a shadow effect. The flowers underneath the title are inked and the circle on the brown string that is part of the title was also hand-painted and then distressed. I think the acrylic paint adds to a distressed look that goes well with the distressed look of Basic Grey papers and stickers. The journaling is also hand-written and a lot of care was taken to make sure that it was neat and added, instead of detracted, from the overall layout. The background paper behind the journaling was carefully chosen to compliment the Basic Grey paper, without matching it too perfectly. Because my grandmother has passed away, this was an emotional layout for me and is full of fond memories. I worked very hard on it!

My first real entry into a sb.com contest. The journaling read:

There are a few things I remember about my Grandma - cookies, mannequins and gardens. I remember digging in the dirt, pulling up little carrots and radishes and bringing them in for grandma to scrub off the dirt. Fresh veggies are always the best!

I definately took a risk with this layout - my printer isn't working, so instead of printing out 'gardening' like I wanted to, I hand drew and hand painted it, then shaded it with brown chalk. It turned out better than I had hoped!

Thanks for looking!
