Tears in my eyes. I love these guys and all they do for us. Please tell your son thank you for protecting those he doesn't even know. God bless him and bring him home safely soon. This is a remarkabe layout - made straight from the heart.
Wow. After reading your journaling, these boots just brought me to tears. Never thought a pair of boots could be so beautiful and make me cry. A sincere and grateful Thank you to your husband for serving. And thank you for sharing such a heartfelt story of all the emotions and love that go into these boots.
I was just looking at layouts for inspiration for doing a scrapbook for my stepson who was in the USAF. Though this is an old post, I stumbled across it. It is an amazing LO as well as the love and care expressed. My husband served in the USCG for 23 yrs. I was raised in the USAF. Needless to say I have a great love for our military. I pray that your husband made it back safe from his deployment. I wish all of our men and women would/could come home safely. Sadly though, not all do. Thank you for your husband's service to our country. And thank you for your dedication and sacrifice as a military spouse.
This lo is amazing. I love it. I'll admit you even had me in tears. My bf isn't in the military, although he tried and couldn't go, your lo make me think about his hunting stuff. I have the same feeling you have about your husband and his boots. This is going into my favs, and gonna have to make a lo of my bf. Thank you for the inspiration. Happy Scrapp'n. Cin
Being a fellow military wife, I totally understand the emotion you felt! I love the layout, but even more so, I love how you poured your heart into the journaling. This is without a doubt my favorite layout yet.
And, I must say, you are an amazing woman to withstand 3 deployments. You are truly an inspiration to me as my husband is scheduled to leave for the first time in just a few of months.
Oh man!!! This made me cryyyy!!! I came to this site looking for inspiration on how to put the emotion into our goodbye pics-- and wow!!!! My hubby has been gone for over 13 months and this is exactly how I feel. Beautiful work!!!!!!
This layout is so gorgeous!! I'm a military wife myself, and I know exactly what you mean! (Especially about picking up their stuff, didn't they learn anything in basic?!) My husband is currently deployed, and I'm missing his boots! Great page!!
Wow, I thought since it was Friday, I had gotten away with not crying this week. LOL WRONG!!!! This is a beautiful layout, I am not a military wife, but, I understand. God bless!!
I know I've already commented on this before, but it was in the favorites gallery & I loved it so much I'm going to have to comment again! It's just an amazing layout! Thanks for making me realize that we should always be thankful for having our loved ones close to us, even with their annoying little habits. :) You're such an inspiration!
This is a wonderful layout...the colors, the journaling, the emotion...is is all great. My son is in Iraq also and this just hit home, may God bless you and your family, stay strong snd keep the faith.
Great LO. I know exactly how you feel. I do exactly the same thing with my DH's boots. I trip over them, move them and complain about the stink, but when there isn't a pair of boots, there's a lot more missing than just shoelaces and leather.
Wow this got me chocked up! My son is in the military and once out of boot camp has volunteered to go to Iraq. The layout is beautiful and what an awesome photo and so much love poured into your journaling. God bless your husband and your family!
ok- TOTALLY made me tear up, b/c my husband has boots for his career to (EMT/Fireman) and I can't tell you how many times I tell him to move them, or leave them outside. GREAT idea. :)
This is such a sweet layout. I love the colors, but more than that your journaling and just the message of this is beautiful. Thank you for the sacrifice you and your family makes. You'll be in my prayers.
Love this! I know just how you feel, my DH is deployed right now. I've had the same thougths about things he always left laying out and now that he is gone I have left them laying out- it just makes you feel closer!
I have a layout in my gallery of a quilt my daughter made for her Army boyfriend and one of the squares has a photo of boots just like these and the saying "Some Heroes wear Capes, Others Wear Combat boots" This is so true. Your layout is awesome. I love your the colors and the journaling made me cry!
The journal is so touching!! What a wonderful lo!! I love everything about it!! My prayers are with you and your family!!! This lo is going to my favs!!
I love this! My husband was deployed for 15 months so I know exactly how you feel. This is such a moving page and your journalling made me tear up. Great job (to you and your hubby!)
Really great job. I love it. The comfort that the colors depict. The love you put into the journaling is straight from the heart and you can still when reading it!. You have a great man.
Amazing layout!! The paper you used look great with the boots, it is a beautiful layout! I love how the journaling (which is great) peeks through the paper strips.
I'm sorry to hear that dh is going back to Iraq, he will be in my thoughts and prayers. Remember to tell him thank you from all of us for what he and so many others are doing over there, and that we all can't wait until him and his boots are back safe at home!

You are so talented to be able to see your hubby boots in a different perspective. Thank you, for sharing a very intimate picture with us.
I'm so sorry to hear that your hubby is going back again... your family will be in my thoughts! On a lighter note :) I LOVE this page! Love the layered papers, love your journaling, love your artistic photo!
This is beautifully moving Sandy. I am in Australia and my husband served in Vietnam many years ago but I still remember the pain of the parting at the time and he still bears the scars unfortunately. The layout has even more meaning to me because my daughter has just married and American Serviceman, she lives in Virginia and even though he has been to Iraq I live in fear that he will need to go again and she will be alone with her similar worries to yours and those of mine all those years ago. Thank you so much for this layout.
I'm saving this LO. I always wanted to do something with my hubby boots but didnt know just what. Love this LO. His 3rd time around....(ewww) I worry when I'll hear the news of mines 2nd round. HUGS to you!
Beautiful and heart felt journaling Sandy... and amazingly wonderful to look at ~ you matched the perfect distressed papers to that photo, it's like they were specially made for this page!!...so many of yours are in my favs!!
Sandy, I so feel what you are feeling. When dh was in the military I told him the samething and did the samething. After all was said and done, I knew I would have him in my arms. Keeping you and him in my prayers.
Your lo had me in almost tears. AWESOME LO!
Goodness, I take my first artistic photo (not of a person) to scrap and it is not of a beautiful flower --but of my hubby's combat boots!! LOL I figured this was some therapy for me. My hubby is in the military and soon will be deploying to Iraq in 2 months---3rd time 'round. I'm feeling ansy about it and it weighs over me something heavy. I hate when he's gone but have become stronger because of it. The story behind this photo is this: The other night, I was putting some clothes in the wash and glanced over at my hubby's boots and I felt so safe. Hard to explain the emotion. I immediately was inspired to take pictures and journal about these boots.
The journaling reads: These boots--the countless times I've picked them up and taken them to the bedroom and the many times I've asked you to please pick them up and get them out of the way. These boots--they sometimes smell because your feet sweat from being in them for over 24 hours. ----Despite all of that, I'd rather stumble over these boots and smell their stink--because when these boots are here, it means you are here!! They are an extension of you and all that you stand for. I love you sweetie--you and your smelly ole boots!! xoxo
I used a sketch from an ezine on this! The scan's not that great on the right side because of the ribbon. Thanks for looking and Happy Monday!
