Journaling: Little did I know that when we started out on this trip, it would become the fiasco that it was. We left at about 6pm on a Thursday night (after Marc had worked a full day) to go to Lake Havasu for a fun filled weekend of boating and relaxation. After about 2 hours into our drive, he noticed that the boat trailer began to smoke. Before we knew it, the thing started smoking so bad that we couldn't even see the boat on the trailer any longer. We had to quickly pull off onto the side of the highway (in the middle of the desert), so that the guys could try to fix the problem and we could continue on our way. Well, after waiting for about an hour for the red hot wheel to cool down, we discovered that one of the wheel's barrings had exploded. We weren't going anywhere, especially across the desert for a 6 hour drive. Auto Clud wanted over $700 to tow the boat back home, and there was still a 5 hour wait before they could ever even get to us. With the boys in the car, we knew that this wasn't even an option. So, we proceeded to drive home very slowly (at around 40 mph) and we finally made it back around 1am on Friday. The next morning Marc woke up early, took the trailer into the shop, and got the thing fixed as soon as they would take us. Off we went again, attempt #2 for our "relaxing weekend". We finally arrived in Lake Havasu at around 6pm on Friday night. At least we were able to enjoy one full day out on the lake on Saturday, but then we had to get back on the raod again on Sunday because of work on Monday. What a crazy weekend and I think that we actually ended up spending more time on the road than we did at the lake. So much for relaxation! (August 2004)

Fun ideas tips and tricks: Using a texture gel medium mixed w/ black acrylic paint to acheive the look of grease on the title (to tie in w/ the theme of the LO). I also used a peice of chain to link 2 of the letters in the title together (again going w/ the theme of the boken trailer).

Patterned Paper: Lil Davis - Wheels, PSX - Motel, and Reminisce - Built for Speed.

Cardstock: Bazzill Basics - Black and White

Stickers: Making Memories Woven Labels - Boy, Creative Imaginations Wordz - Boy

Rubber Stamps: Making Memories Foam Alphabet Stamps - Jersey, Making Memories Acrylic Paint - Cityscape Collection

Rubber stamp ink: 7 Gypsies Walnut Ink, Jim Holtz Distress Ink - Antique Linen, Making Memories Stamp Pad - Black

Computer fonts: 2 Peas in a Bucket - Dear Diary

Creative lettering idea: I mixed texture gel w/ black acrylic paint to acheive the look of a textured "greasy" title. I also used Artistic Expressions - On the Road Again Transperancy, 3M - Transperancy for Ink Jet Printers (for journaling)

Other: Lil Davis Bottle Cap - Travel, Making Memories Metal Washers (Journey), Metal Hinges (Antiqued Gold), Metal Circle Alphabet, Black Eyelets, and silver chain. BeDazzler - Metal Studs, 7 Gypsies - Twill, and Scraps Ahoy - Compass. Also, Liquitex Texture Gel - Resin Sand, Inkadinko - Blending Chalk

My own designs: (Side note) The main, larger photo is in the center of a 2 page LO (they're meant to be placed side by side). The coloring looks a little off in my scan and is actually much nicer IRL. It's also difficult to see the texture in the title from the scan, but it's actually very raised and "greasy" looking which I thought was unique. Also, the 2nd page has a hinged flip book that reveals another photo, accents, and the journaling about the event underneath it. TFL!
