April Scraps Challenge. I had originally used the paper for a wall hanging. http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/26417/view/761641/-1/0/1.html ____ This is a letter to the editor I sent in last December _________The Holiday spirit does exist!
We like to think of the holidays as magical Hallmark moments, but let's be honest, they can also be stressful, tiring and work on your very last nerve. Anyone who was shopping in Rib Mountain last weekend can attest to that.
My 1 year old and I were attempting to make a quick, yet essential diaper purchase, without a cart to be found. I managed to tote my daughter on one hip and diapers on the other. As I'm checking out a good Samaritan ahead of me says to the cashier "Put her diapers in my cart". She then insisted to walk with me all the way to my car (in the back of the lot) and help me load them in. This stranger's simple random act of kindness made my season. She had other plans of her own with places to be, gifts to buy. But her helping me with those diapers was the most selfless thing I've had happen to me in awhile.
During the craziness of the season itís easy to forget the little things. It isnít always about the food and drink or even the gifts. Itís about family, friends and community. Itís about helping one another. My good Samaritan didnít think twice about her kindness, but little did she know the impact it left on me. It warmed my heart and encouraged me to pass it on. Sometimes the best things truly are free. _____________
