This monument is dedicated to President William McKinley who served at Antietam as part of the 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He served "hot coffee" and "warm food" to all the men in the regiment, and had to pass under fire to do so. The monument was dedicated 2 years after he was assassinated.
