I promise, I only have a few more wedding layouts to go! My camera is is being repaired right now so I'm doing all "old" photos. I actually did a paper layout of my cake (my first one ever), but I wanted to have a digital one too. This was inspired by a magazine article in Hawaii Bride & Groom. I went back and forth on adding the swirl brush. In the end I left it in. This cake was such a LABOR of love. I don't recommend making your own wedding cake! I had a vision in my head of the cake, but did not want to spend the $800-$1500 it would cost to have someone make it. So I made the monogram myself (applying those crystals was a tedious task!), and asked my mom to bake the cake. I'd always had an easy time working with fondant so I figured it would be no big deal. WRONG! It's quite different doing a 9x13" cake and a 16x16" cake. Especially when you are only going on 2 hours of sleep and it's nearing 12AM the night before the wedding. Thank the Lord above for wonderful family! My cousins and sister-in-law all helped roll out the fondant and we got it done. The next day I left the task to assemble the cake up to my family (even though it was hard, I'm very HANDS ON). My ds even helped out. It was such a wonderful moment when my dh & I walked into the reception hall and saw the cake. My dream had come to fruition. I actually cried! (I have all this journaling on the paper LO, but wanted to keep the digital one clean, sorry for the novel!). TFL!
