This is a last minute science project my 2nd grade student and I just finished up this morning... not bad for a rush job. We used various sized christmas balls (plastic) for the moons, only one was the right color (shiny one) and the other two we had to paint (white paint with food coloring to get the right color). For Pluto itself we had to cover a ball with homemade playdough (solid playdough was WAY too heavy) and paint it brown and white. We covered the white foam brick with black cardstock and she wrote the names of the moons and Pluto with my white gel pen. Finishing touch is the "stars", ball shaped tacks stuck into the base. Phew! Got it done! The paint is still wet, but at least it's finished!
