I don't understand why they put those things so close to the oven. One used to be over mine and the steam from boiling water would set it off. Let's just say I ate less spaghetti living there.
Oh, I had one like that once! It was right outside a bathroom a it went off everytime someone took a shower! Now I have one that goes off in every storm.
Too funny...great photo of your pet peeve! I had one like that in my last house...It would go off if you opened the bathroom door too soon after taking a shower...and boy is that a loud noise at 6:30 a.m. when you are getting ready for work.
Hey you are not supposed to put them in the kitchen, put it in the next room. My ds sets ours off with burnt toast and we swing the door back and forth until it stops.
I completely understand!!! I have 6 in my house - and all of them seem to run down the battery at the same time (and usually while DH is out of town) - and I'll have 2 or 3 start beeping in the middle of the night... ahhhhhhhh!!!!
I've got one of those wont' stick in the place in the ceiling - but it's outside my bedroom so luckily it isn't too big a deal with ringing... but MILs house - she sets the darn thing off every time we're there. Ugggh! I hear you!!!
We used to have our smoke detector right outside our bathroom door and every time we showered and the bathroom got steamy the darn thing would go off. I feel your pain!
:) I know that feeling. Mine is the same way, but it's not attached to the ceiling. It's just sitting loose on the top of the cupboard. So I know if I have a really smoky supper, I just move it. :)
This is for the May Photo A Day mini challenge to photograph a pet peeve.
In the year that I have lived here this smoke detector has become my biggest pet peeve, I hate this thing!!! First of all, as you can see, it is hanging from the ceiling. No, it's not disconnected! I have tried many times to get up there and get it to stay up, but it refuses. But, what I really hate about this smoke detector is how sensitive it is. And not just to smoke, it seems to be sensitive to heat in general. And it is only about 6 feet from my oven. Every night when I make supper I have to set up a fan on a stack of boxes under the smoke detector, turn on the overhead fan above my stove, and open my front door, to make sure it doesn't go off. And if it DOES go off, it takes quite a lot of towel waving to get it turn off again!!
