JOURNALING: We met Ralph Dugan just before Jennifer was born in 1977, when he visited our church (Brandywine Baptist) one Sunday and was told that Rod liked to fish in the local streams. They made plans to fish together, and soon Ralph was visiting us regularly.
When Jennifer was born, there was an almost "instant bond" between her and Ralph, which grew through the years. Ralph loved to play with Jennifer; they would go for walks in the park, he would take her to lunch after church on Sundays, and he even took her to Philadelphia to see the special Christmas decorations one December. He had Thanksgiving Dinner with us most years, and always visited us on Christmas morning on his way to visit his own children and grandchildren.
Jennifer’s wedding in 1999 (pictured above) was probably the last one Ralph attended, as he was well into his 90’s by then. He died on February 1, 2002.
