I have had to do a lot of dividing pp between 2-page spreads so I think you have some options. I like what princess said about your photo placement on the left...running those 3 smaller photos vertically beside the first photo. What I do to "cheat" with pp like this a lot is to cut it into 3" strips which gives 4 strips to work with...create a linear look by having two of the strips on the top & bottom of each page. That type of look would probably mean rearranging the photos but it might still work. Or, like Brenda said, (and I've done this too...partially 'cause I'm cheap!), cut-out a 6 x 6 square from each pp and switch the squares out...I'd probably go centered with these. Anyway, I *do* love both pps but definitely agree with dividing the one on the right up between the 2 pgs. I will say that I personally *liked* the font & mat effect you went with. I am not sure about the ricrac but the musician in me thinks I know why it is there...so perhaps if it is placed along the lines of some of the other suggestions it will work better & still fit your theme.
I have to agree that the pp is busy and can be divided across the spread. I'd also like to see the ricrac on both pages. However, here's another way to look at it and a question for ya: For consistency's sake, why not treat these pages like your other DEMF spread where you cut out part of the pp and use it on the green, and cut out part of the green and use it on the pp? I know you don't have any more of the pp, but who's gonna see any pp cut out from behind the photos? As for the types of shapes you cut out, I suggest wavy four sided ones to mimic the ricrac. Also, consider reserving some ricrac to border a small solid colored journaling block to break up the pp.
This looks like so much fun, Mel. I wanna go. Ummmmm, let's see. I am ok with the title. As far as the right side, I would use that patterned paper as a huge square photo mat placed on either that mustard or rust colored to contrast with the green on the left. When you trim the patterned paper down, you'll be left with enough to put some strips over on the left side. Either horizontally or vertically. Then place the ribbon and ricrac where you have empty space, if needed. I like the feel of this page and love it so far! Great, Mel!
On the right page, i think the background PP is so busy its distracting. All you would need to do tho is get some solid paper to match one of the colors in it and either do 2 stripes one on top & one on bottom aprox 3 inches thick each or do one larger strip in the middle. Just needs to be calmed down a bit but I love the colors and the photos!
I like the pp. I would put maybe a strip down the left side of the left page & then run the ric rac & ribbon along the bottom of the left page, to sort of tie the left page in more w/ the right. I agree w/ matting the title. Great start, you captured a nice fun feeling here!
I am going to go against the grain here and disagree about the photo placement. On the left I can see you larger photo centered and moved toward the outside edge and I can see the three smaller pics running vertically down beside it. I would pull all of the ric rac off of the second page and use it on the first page. It is not doing anything over there and competes with the PP. I don't mind the PP on the second page, but I think this kind of PP is better sectioned off between two pages. It is a stark contrast between the two pages and using it on both with your left PP as your background may help to dispurse. As for your title, I completely agree with Nitza.
Love the photo placement! I agree with Katie about the pp and the green being a bg on both pgs.
I also think you should make the mats behind the letters and numbers in the title all the same size. And you can bring the ric rac on the first page. Can't wait to see the end result!
I'm actually not really digging the background pp... it's almost too busy for me beside the other side... I would probably use the green for both and use the pp for some sort of accent.
Love the photo placement. It works so well and the opposite on the other side is very cools. I love that ric rac and would add it to the first page too!
I would be tempted to put the ric rac down the right side of the page then scoot the photo over to the right and add some journiling. Great start though - love the colours
Maybe some of that ric rac and ribbon coming up and down on the right side, as well as horizontally on the bottom. Just a suggestion.. it'd take up some space and tie the pages together.
