journaling:Do you see this face - that one in the picture. wow when did that happen? All I know is it hapened way too fast. I am not ready for you to be grown this way I miss my snuggly little boy. You have hit the age where you dont need me as much, you want to take showers instead of baths, you want complete control over what you wear (which isnt happening - but you voice quite loudly what you do & dont like). You have even begun fixing your own breakfasts (only because I know you want to), you are becomming more interested in “things” that have little to do with “us” and more to do with “you”. (and thats okay). I wish I had an instruction book that told me how we handle this new stage we have found ourselves emerged in, but there isnt one. Its just you and me trying our best to be ourselves. What I can tell you is I love you more not less because of this new forged freedom and independance. I love seing you accomplish things and watching the joy of that accomplishment spread across your face by way of a smile. I love seeing you reach into your future and pull it into the now. I love seeing you grow and learn and change. I just wish I knew better how to change with you. IF I do things for you that you wish I wouldnt it is because I do love you so much. If I think you can do things you arent quite ready for yet, its because I know the satisfaction you will have of your accomplishment. If I bug you about what your friends talk about at school it is because I am genuinly interested. If I challenge you to embrace new things its because I know you can handle them. If I stop and walk away before I loose composure out of frustration its because I know I am not perfect as a mom. If I come and ask forgiveness from you for a misunderstanding it is because I have never done this before and you didnt come with an instruction manual. If you catch me staring at you its because I dont want to miss a second of watching you become a young man. If I hold you a little longer at bed time its because I dont want to let go. Just not yet
