I know this is more photo than LO but what this represents to me is very important. The photo shows me at the Okavango River - Namibia/Botswana border. It is another page for my African album. The title was inspired by the movie of the same name. I have jumped to the end of this album by doing this LO, as this page would be the final entry. This is another favourite photo of mine and the journaling comes direct from my diary at the time. I left under very sad circumstances and before my contract was up. However, not a day goes past when I don't think of my time there and how things may have turned out differently. Text reads: How do events get to this stage without seeing what's coming? I am alone, I have given my all, but I don't know if I have the strength to go on. You have taken all I have given and yet still the demands keep coming, however, my proverbial bag of tricks is now empty. Together, so much more could have been accomplished, but you just don't know how. Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and feed him for a lifetime. I so much wanted to teach you this skill, but you couldn't see past the fish and greedily ate it all. Now, we've lost the fishing line and the river has run dry. I only hope, one day, when the rains come again, you will remember that white woman and try to fish not for a day, but for a lifetime. - 1996
