My DH's Grandfather...photo taken sometime during WWI. (1914-1918). Journaling reads:
Grandpa Goetter was born in Germany and served in the German Army during World War I (1914-1918). These pictures were taken sometime during the war – I don’t know the exact year. These are scanned copies of the originals (which were in very bad shape). In the picture (with the other German soldiers) Grandpa Goetter is the one with the cane. He sustained war related injuries in the hand and thigh from a machine gun. After the war was over, Herman immigrated to the United States with his wife, Paula Louise, and sons Herman, Jr., and Manfred. They arrived at Ellis Island on the (ship) Hannover on June 6, 1923. From there they moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. After several years in Knoxville, the family moved to Pensacola, Florida.
