The journaling is fantastic. And I love that you had the same shirts on. In NH, they have just made it legal for same sex couples to have a civil ceremony. When they fill out the license, it asks for person A and person B's names. So if my partner and I were to decided to make it official, we said we would have shirts made that said Person A and Person B. It reminds me of Dr. Seuss' Thing1 and Thing2 :)
I love this! It is such a sweet story! I had a very small wedding too...We went to Wal-Mart in our wedding clothes and bought candles and stuff for the hotel room...then we ate pizza for wedding supper too...Hehehe. Your pizza dinner made me think of that...I should scrap it soon...
This may not sound very romantic, but it was the most romantic moment of my life!! We both realized that being together at this time in our lives was the most important thing in the world. And that us, our parents, and God were the only necessary ingredients for the perfect wedding.
Journaling reads, "Kenny and I had talked about getting married many times over the past four years. My dad had just come home from the hospital two weeks earlier, and he still needed someone to help him do nearly everything. We decided now was the time. It was senseless for Kenny to continue paying rent when he was always at our house anyway. It must have been fate! After all, we were both wearing jeans and our Spirit West Coast t-shirts.
We had planned to have a very small ceremony at our house with Jenn and Felix (our witnesses) and our parents present. But since my dad had just come home, we weren't really prepared for guests. After getting the Nike slogan from Jenn, "Just Do It!", we decided to do just that. We called Thom and he said he would perform the ceremony. Jenn and Felix kindly offered their beautiful home, and we became Mr. and Mrs. Tamasy a few hours later.
Jenn went overboard, as usual, and bought us a beautiful cake, toasting glasses and wine. She had the house romantically lit with candles and had made a gorgeous bouquet for me. She and Felix also provided the perfect wedding dinner, pepperoni and veggie pizza!
There was only one glitch the whole evening. When Thom arrived, he did not have any vows prepared and Kenny panicked. Jenn and I made a quick search on the Internet and the rest is history . . . literally!
Our Vows - In the presence of God, our family and friends, I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live. I, Deborah/Kenny, take you Kenny/Deborah, to be my husband/wife, my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. With this ring, I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.
