My husband and I took these pictures with a disposable camera on a kayaking trip. I didn't want to overwhelm the pictures with embellishments - I thought the swirly rub-ons were the perfect touch.

TFL!

"Chris and I met Kat at Hike Bike Kayak in La Jolla. While we waited, we watched people returning paddles, soaked to the skin. We reevaluated taking a backpack with us. Chris and I rented a tandem kayak and Kat rented a single. We walked down to the cove with our paddles and waited for our kayaks to be delivered.

Chris helped Kat paddle past the breakers. Then it was our turn. I took the front seat and the brunt of the splashes from the waves. Our kayak capsized several times, soaking us completely. It was tough to practice synchronized paddling in the breakers. After struggling for a half hour, we finally beat the breakers.

It was so peaceful on the cove, away from the crowds on the beach. We found Kat and explored, paddling over kelp beds and fish. We avoided the rough water near the rocky coast. Lots of pelicans were out, diving for fish – very cool to watch!

Our arms were tired about the time our rental expired. Returning to shore was tricky. Chris timed our reentry into the breakers just right so the waves pushed us in but did not tip us over. All three of us worked up quite an appetite. We devoured tacos at a table on La Jolla Blvd and enjoyed the sunshine. What a perfect San Diego day!"
