Having lived in the apartment for over 5 years, I can honestly say that finding our first home was hands down the most amazing journey I've been on so far. It feels amazing to be able to unpack all that "baggage" of the past 5 years permanently, and lay down my ties to this world for good. Having a place that truly is your is a feeling I wasn't sure I'd ever experience. I won't say it was easy getting to this point, but it was rewarding. There are times when I realize, "this is mine, and nobody can take it from me!" It's been really nice being creative in our space, no longer stifled by flaccid, white, thin walls. Now we are free to paint in vivid color: green for the living room, orange for the kitchen, purple for Stella's room and red for my studio. We feel so much more free in our home and feel good about raising Stella and subsequent children in such a positive environment. It took Stella a while to warm up to her new surroundings, not wanting to even go into her room by herself, but now, just try to stop her, she's everywhere. The backyard and the rest of the yard are her favorite places to be, looking at all the flowers and trying to spot birds, she is "HAPPY" and so are we. We finally feel like a real family and hope to live a long life together in either this happy home or whatever heads our way in the future. Live your dreams....
