Thank you for sharing. We've walked that road with you and your husband and your journaling was very inspirational for me. We have our old husband and daddy back on most days now. God is truly awesome!!!
lo of the testimony of my dh. it was such an unforgettable moment on that day when my husband smiled. journaling reads:It had been a long time since I saw that smile. A smile that glowed from the inside out. The kind of smile that made your eyes twinkle. The one that emanated the joy that seem to reside within. But after the disappointing news and diagnosis of Uhl's disease, the smile seemed to slowly fade away. Stays in and out of the hospital, numerous doctor's exams, and trips to the heart failure clinic, soon exchanged that smile that I loved so deeply, with looks of despair, tears, and pain. I watched and prayed as you struggled to be the provider and make sure that the kids and I had what we needed. For it was heartwrenching to see you as a young man of strength and vitality battle with vulnerability and face your own mortality. However, as difficult as it seemed to get, it was evident that the hand of God was on our side. For the Lord had given you miracle after miracle. You received a $98,000.00 heart surgery without having to "pay a dime". God did that. And when your heart stopped and was shocked 27 times with no serious side effects, you lived to tell about it. We know that God did that too!! The joy of the Lord is our strength. Then gradually the sun began to shine and things began to get better, because of your will power and faith to fight and survive. You started to feel better in your inner man as well as your outer man. And when you'd have your good days and bad days we still count it all joy. And then one dayat your appointment at Dr. Donahue's office, the nurse had to take a picture for your file, and when she said smile YOU SMILED!! You smiled that smile. The smile that assured me that you knew EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT. It was a blessing to see you smile that day. I will never take for granite something so simple and precious as a smile; your smile. -----This was the pic taken by the nurse.
