I'm a child of the 80's, but I LOVE the sentiment! Great description of the furniture--my parents' 1st apartment had red shag carpet and they bought a velvet with a huge orange flower pattern (the height of style!). The colors and designs in your lo are PERFECT!
thanks for the walk down memory lane!! lol!!! I can so remember all that like it was yesterday!!! I graduated high school in 77 so another popular thing was disco!!! lol!!! great lo!
Great journaling!!! And the color scheme (shudder!)...as one who lived through this same period, I must applaud your avocado and harvest gold authenticity! (Aren't you GLAD times have changed? LOL)
TFS! :)
Here's the journaling for the LO! Like I said it took me back!!! LOL
Yep, I'm a child of the 70's. I was born in “65” but I truly grew up and went to school when groovy was something you actually said nearly every day. It was a time of am radio, records and 8 track tapes. The only time we really watched TV was when The Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island or Happy Days was on. Peace symbols and big chunky flowers adorned my clothes that were fringed or decorated with layers of rick rack. I skate boarded while wearing corduroy bellbottoms and big chunky platform shoes. My hair was styled in the popular shag, my mother drove a Volkswagen wore her hair long and straight, penciled her eyebrows and wore dresses that nearly touched the floor. Our carpet was green; the furniture an orange plaid on dark wood and our kitchen didn't have a microwave. I begged for a lava lamp and the new cool calculators that had just recently been introduced. We played with Barbie's and Chatty Cathy dolls and produced our own plays in the backyard. McDonald's introduced its first drive thru, the movie Jaws terrified the general public and drove people from the beaches in waves. I heard horrific rumors about a movie called “The Exorcist” that I wasn't allowed to see, and remember the premiere of cable TV. The only remote control in the house was me, and I had to turn a dial to change stations. The term VCR, was yet to be, so if you didn't see it the first time you were out of luck. The only people with tattoos had been in the military, piercing your ears ONCE was still a big deal. Flavored lip gloss was totally cool and went really well with blue eye shadow and puca shell necklaces we wore. Yep, it was a different era, a time of rapid social change, a time my children will never understand, just like I don't understand their styles in the new millennium. Pants so low on their hips they can't run and Ugg Boots…. I don't get it! So I guess we're even and that's as it should be.
