AWESOME!!! I noticed this LO right away in the randam images. I have never seen your work till now and I see what I have been missing. This is a touching tribute to children everywhere. You make me want to hug my children right now. I am truly blessed to have 2 children of mine and a stepson. But like you also, he is one of my own. That's for making my day and reminding me how BLESSED I am.
Oh BJ, this is absolutely gorgeous!!! I love all the different touches you added - the many versions of blessed in the title, the hand sewing, everything. And the journaling is so touching, it brought tears to my eyes!
BJ...I don't think that I'm ever going to go by a LO w/o reading the journaling again. That is so touching. I love the LO too. I like the picture behind the journaling and the color photo. AMAZING job...straight to the favs. Nat
Well I wish I had scrolled down & read the journaling instead of leaning so close to my screen I could feel the hear on my eyeballs! Fantastic journaling BJ, love the overlay and how you used the BG papers!!
oh BJ! That is absolutely beautiful! It made my cry and made me go hug my girls and remember how blessed I should be! Not only are you blessed, but your daughters have been blessed to have such a wonderful "MOM".
just reading your journaling makes me appericiate being a mom and I love your layout to boot. Nice job and love it all. I need to go tell the kids how much I love them. Thank you for sharing that with all of us
BJ, I love what you did with the different fonts up top and great idea using the B & W photo that way. I love the paper and journaling too. Great job girl!!
For the captains challenge this week I was to do a layout about a part of me. I decided to do mine on the relationship I have with my step-daughters.
For the layout I used a piece og Basic Grey from the Dawson collection. On the top I printed the word blessed in different fonts, sizes, and directions. I then took my photo and enlarged it to an 8x10 and printed it in black and white, adhering this to the background page. I then layered a piece of vellum over the background. I typed the journaling on a transparency highlighting select words and phrases reflecting back to me. I hand sewed this to the background. I double matted my photo , inked the edges, and added photo anchors to 2 sides. For the title, I inked an accent block of the same paper I matted the photo in, then again printed the word Blessed onto a tag from the Dawson collection and ran it across a piece of sheer ribbon that I had tied.
the journalling reads: "I can't believe I'M sharing this photo with anyone since I look terrible but I love the emotion that is shown between ME and MY two step-daughters. After many years of trying I had come to accept the fact that I may never have a child of MYOWN. It was very painful to watch others who seemed to be burdened with their own children and wonder "WHY NOT ME?" I knew I had all this love to share with a child. Then, when I got married to Gary I WAS BLESSED with becoming a STEP-MOTHER to Crystal and Zoey. Some people have issues with entering a pre-made family but for ME it was just the foundation I needed. I was now the person who was being called when I heard a little voice calling MOMMY at the store. I got to read bedtime stories at night getting paid with hugs and kisses. I AM BLESSED to be able to paint Easter eggs, make homemade Halloween costumes, and to go to visit Santa's lap. I AM BLESSED to be able to just listen to them to them playing together in their room and to be WANTED to have play with them. I AM BLESSED to be able to appreciate some of the things that most other people take for granted. I AM BLESSED to have MY FAMILY.
