For the Kiwi Travels circle journal - a toy kiwi (bird) travelling the world! These pictures were taken in Kuaotunu on the Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand while I was down there on holiday (I live in Auckland, NZ).
Journalling says: 'The koru, which is often used in Maori art as a symbol of creation, is based on the shape of an unfurling fern frond. Its circular shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, and its inward coil suggests a return to the point of origin. The koru therefore symbolises the way in which life both changes and stays the same. - Te Ara Encyclopedia of New Zealand.'
The koru pattern was already built in to the paper (I have only used one sheet of patterned paper) but I cut it to insert the photos. I put the white ferns on using a stencil and a white pen. The heading is hand drawn with a white pen.
