This is probably my most embarrasing story ever, so try not to make fun of me too much:) Here is the journaling: So I am a little anxious. I can never wait for presents, or for a movie I want to see to come out, or even to find out if you were a boy or a girl. So, naturally, I would be VERY anxious for me to go into labor with you. I had after all been walking around for 4 weeks being 2 cm dilated, so I was certain you really were going to come at any time. The night after I went on maternity leave, I was about to use the restroom when I felt a little trickle of wetness-a rush of excitement went through me and I said to Daddy, “umm, I think my water just broke.” He asked me if I was sure, so I called the doctor. Waiting for the doctor to call me back, we threw last minute things into the suitcase (which had been packed for about 3 weeks). The doctor said my water probably had not broke because it would have been more like a gush, but since we lived almost 30 miles from the hospital, he said to come in. I was convinced it was my water because I had read on a message board about another pregnant lady who just trickled water all day, and her doctor scolded her when she finally went in to the hospital, leaking amniotic fluid all day (why I though my situation was the same, I have no idea!). So we call your Grandparent’s and leave the house. Daddy is frantically trying to unlock the car when he realizes something. He has grabbed my work keys, which I hung next to the car keys, and the door to the house is locked. After trying to break in, we decide to call an ambulance because that would be faster than calling a taxi. We tell them it’s not an emergency, but the next thing we know (or hear), an ambulance and a fire truck come with the sirens blasting. The neighbors start coming out, wondering what is wrong, and we assure them that everything is okay. So we get into the ambulance and they are hooking me up to all kinds of things, asking me if I have felt any contractions or pain, which I have not. We finally make it to the hospital, and they want to take me to L & D on the stretcher. We finally compromise, and they take me in a wheelchair. The nurse in triage said she was pretty sure I was not in labor, but that they would keep me for a little while to make sure. I was really really hoping I was, so I could meet you finally, but also…it sure would be embarrassing of this was a false alarm. After an hour the nurse confirms that it was not amniotic fluid, and that I probably just peed a little. So, we are feeling pretty dumb right now, and I am begging the nurse to here other stories of woman who thought they were in labor but they weren’t. So since we had to take the ambulance to the hospital since we locked ourselves out, we took a very expensive taxi back home, then waited for a locksmith for about an hour and a half (this time it is about 3 a.m.). So, we go in and DO NOT hang my work keys by the car keys and go to sleep. 2 weeks later, you finally came out and met us, and that time, I definitely knew I was in labor!!
