This is a picture taken of me on my wedding day, putting on my aunt's earrings, my "something borrowed."

The journaling reads:
"I was so proud of myself for not crying when I put on my dress. I even kept my cool when my mom helped me with my veil. But putting on these earrings was a different story. The gorgeous pearls and diamonds connected me to the one person in my family not there to share in my big day: my Aunt Sherry.

When Aunt Sherry passed away in May, my heart broke knowing that she would never meet the man who made me so happy, that she wouldn’t have a say in the flowers I would carry in my bouquet. But deep down, I knew her spirit would be with me, and these earrings were a visual reminder. My aunt gave them to her daughter to wear on her wedding day, and now I would wear them on my big day.

So I let the happy tears fill my eyes as I said a silent hello to my aunt, knowing as I wore my “something borrowed” she’d be watching me walk down the aisle and smiling herself that I picked the right man.

October 30th, 2004"
