Do you know how much your daddy loves you, Max? When you were in pre-K, your school had a “Donuts with Dad” day that you had anticipated for weeks. On the morning of the big day, Daddy was driving home to pick you up when someone ran a red light and smashed into his truck, totaling it. Thankfully, he was unharmed. He called home immediately and said in a very disappointed voice, “I can’t come to Donuts with Dad. I just got in an accident.” When I explained to you what had happened, you responded, “It’s okay, Mom. I’m just glad Dad’s okay.”
I took you to Donuts with Dad where you explained to everyone why your mom was there instead of your dad. Imagine my surprise when I walked out into the parking lot and saw William, Daddy’s co-worker, with Daddy in his truck! He had made it after all. You were so surprised and gave him the sweetest hug. You got to have your donut with Dad after all. That’s how much your daddy loves you!
