Oh! I messed up the bottom. It was supposed to be pink all the way acoss but the stamping ink got all over the bottom. Either I could fret over it all evening or just change the color to something else and add the already printed journaling. My life is too busy to fret over the small stuff.
Journaling: It’s amazing to see how this little ball of fur made a niche is our lives. You see, when we first saw her and the rest of the puppies for sale, I was ready to bolt!
There was an ad in the paper for miniature schnauzers all the way in NC. I called wanting a salt & pepper female and the man assured me he had several. Taylor and I drove 4 hours one Saturday to get a puppy. When we got there, it was awful. There were so many dogs in little cages in the back yard. The smell was awful and their living conditions were worse.
The man, who looked absolutely crazy, took us inside where the puppies were. There were at least 50 puppies in the kitchen with various ages. The house had the worst ammonia smell from all the urine. And to make things worse, he didn’t have a salt & pepper female that was old enough to sell.
Then, this little white puppy ran across the hallway (where he had barricaded MORE puppies in the front of the house). I asked, “That wasn’t a schnauzer was it,” since they only came in black or gray. And sure enough it was. He brought out the feistiest, most playful puppy I had ever seen. But she was not for sale. The white ones were rare and he was keeping her to breed.
The man needed the money so offered her to us. I walked out to the truck with Taylor to get the money. When we got to the truck, this was my time to bolt. I was not about to pay $350 for a dog that was in these conditions. I told Taylor to get in the truck and let’s go. He got upset and begged and pleaded. I had promised him a puppy. But I couldn’t help to think, what was I doing paying any money for this nasty creature?
We bought her and then we took her straight to Pet Smart to have her cleaned up. She was covered in fleas. Her fur was sticky and she smelt like urine. She was scared and need some love and we were here to give that to her. Common sense to me to run but compassion told me to buy. She is now the cutest puppy you have ever seen! She has the best temperament and loves anyone and everyone. She’s funny. She’s fast as a rocket. She’s lazy. She’s loveable. She’s playful. She’ll chew up all of your favorite things … but she’s ours and we love her!
