In the first picture, Grandpa's father decided they needed to move to South Texas to become sharecroppers, there was supposed to be good money in it! He was born in the middle of a field in a tent. The crop of choice was onions, the only problem was that everyone had onions, there was not a demand for so many onions, so everyone ended up losing money. This pic is of Grandpa sitting on a crate of onions. The second pictures is much later, Grandpa would ride the mule in the local founders parade and carry a jug with Sunday Beer (root beer) and would pretend to be drunk. He wore overalls and an old worn out hat, and carried a corncob pipe and left his teeth out. As kids, we loved it!!
