My dogs keep wanting to eat this... literally. And they have eaten at least 2 of them, and they crunch, crunch when they do. My husband says that's ok, they're full of protein! (yuk!) Cool page, cool experience for your son to remember!
love the design and the pictures and the colors and the journaling... but the giant bugs... ahhhh!! LOL I wish all bugs only came around every 17 years! LOL and this is from a woman who is terrified of butterflies LOL so I guess my opinion is a bit one sided LOL great page!!
I had to comment on this because it really caught my eye. I think the bugs are kind of funky looking and I like the tribute to them. My husband and I heard about them on our honeymoon from a nice couple we met from Chicago - 17 years ago. I didn't realize then that was the cycle. - very cool page!
Cicadas creep me out! I can't believe that you touched them!!! On the other hand, I love, love, love the design, the colors and the cool memory that you captured. You rocked it!
What a great theme for a LO. You got some great photos too! I really like the oversized photo on the left with the smaller ones lined up. This is a cool design.
Great use of the dictionary definition and documentation of an event that doesn't happen very often in a lifetime. Love the large photo with the smaller supporting pics, almost has the feel of something from an encyclopedia. Nice work!
ohhhhhh i LOVE your design with the addition of the little pics -really gives the whole story...... never heard of these but we use to go to the orchards to hear some bug make some sound, hehe - so much for that memory - anyway this made me think of it!!! pretty cool to remember since it will be so long before he sees (plays) with them again!!!! ((into my favs - this deign is HOT!)
Journaling: n. : any of a family (Cicadidae) of homopterous insects which have a stout body, wide blunt head, and large transparent wings and the males of which produce a loud buzzing noise usually by stridulation Merriam-Webster
It’s hard to believe that the next time the 17 year cicadas come around you will be 21 years old. We didn’t get any in our neighborhood so we had to go over to Grandma Subsits’ house to see them. Justin thought it was pretty cool – although I was the one that had to touch them. He freaked out when they landed on him.
According to the University of Illinois, the The northern Illinois brood, which emerged in late May 2007, has a reputation for the largest emergence of cicadas known anywhere. June 5, 2007
