Found some pictures from my field hockey days and really wanted to scrap them - this is now officially the first installation in my Book of Me :).
Journaling reads: I played field hockey back in 6th -8th grade with the Northern Virginia Junior Field Hockey League. I was never that athletic as a kid, but I really found my niche in field hockey – it was my favorite sport. I was pretty good at it, too! I usually played right forward, although would also play defense. The only position I really didn’t like was goalie. I remember playing three seasons a year, including indoors, and doing ball handling drills, passing drills, penalty shot drills, etc. I remember my coach, Starr Karl. I remember having to wear a mouth guard, which always made me gag. I remember being dropped off at Fairfax High School for practices. I remember Dad coming to my games (and taking these pictures!). I didn’t try out for it in high school because I couldn’t run a mile fast enough, although I was going to try and get better and try out sophomore year. Then I had knee surgery, and haven’t played since. Sometimes I miss it and would like to pick up a stick again, but I’ve found new favorite activities now, like walking and yoga. Still, for old time’s sake, I wonder how many stick lengths I can dribble in 60 seconds…
