Journaling behind small photo: The Basketball Homecoming Queen was chosen each year by a vote of the student body. Sonya was nominated and so were several of her best friends. They held the pageant during half time of the game. The girls were introduced, along with their escorts. Then it was time to announce the winner. "And the winner of the 1992 Basketball Homecoming Queen is . . . Sonya Wxxxxxx!" I think this photo shows how surprised she was. What an honor it was. She will remember it forever. -- January 1992
