Details: Journaling seems to be one of the most difficult parts of scrapbooking but one of the most important! If details aren't included on a layout, it's like finding a treasure trove of black and white photos only to discover that nobody took the time to record the people or the date on the back. I'm offering 12 different categories for different types of journaling techniques to start you hopefully thinking about adding the details.
This challenge may be combined with other challenges and more than one category can be combined on a single layout. Also, multiple entries are perfectly fine and highly encouraged. If you have any questions, please ask!
Please be aware, no matter what category you choose, there is a 10 word minimum when entering this challenge. Iím noticing that a few entries in the past didnít have any journaling (storytelling) on them. The 10 word minimum will at least allow folks to minimally include who, when and where on a layout (your journaling does not need to contain these points - these are just examples of information that may help to tell a story). If you have any questions, please ask.
PRIZES: There will be 3 prize winners: one(1) grand prize winner (estimated product value $30) and two(2) runner-up prize winners (estimated product value $15). Contest is open to US residents only however, anyone is encouraged to participate. Winners will be chosen among all participants that checked the box to join this challenge when uploading. All 3 winners will be chosen by random.org on or about 01-June-2019.
Category 1: List (List form, Bulleted, numbered, 5Ws + H (Who, What, When, Where, Why and How), whatever a list means to you). Just like making a weekly grocery list but way more fun!
Category 2: 50+ words. It's really not that hard once you start writing it down. Yes, seriously.
Category 3: Use a journaling card (like Project Life). C'mon, I know you have one or two sitting in your stash! Many of them even have journaling prompts. However, please be aware that the prompts or any other words on the journaling card do not count as journaling - only what you personally write.
Category 4: Journaling strips. This type of journaling adds details as well as an artsy feature! Add a whole story or just 3-4 short lines that contain the date, people, a short description of the event, and/or the location of the event (this is the perfect option for someone trying to get into the habit of journaling).
Category 5: Hidden journaling. Some people arenít comfortable with people seeing/reading their personal thoughts or people run out of room on a lo and include the journaling either on the back or under an element already on the layout. When posting your layout, if you donít mind sharing the journaling, please post a pic with the journaling showing. This may give others ideas on where they can include journaling. If you donít want to share, thatís ok too! Just tell us where it is.
Category 6: Handwritten journaling. Cursive or print, just do it!
Category 7: Write a letter to someone. It can be to yourself, someone youíve never met, someone that has passed, someone you talk to every day, etc.
Category 8: Journal from another personís point of view. Interview a child, ask your spouse/partner what they thought of a vacation, include old letters, use posts from other peopleís facebooks pages, etc.
Category 9: Journaling around the border of the layout or around a picture.
Category 10: Journal in a different color other than black.
Category 11: Use digital journaling. Type your journaling and print it directly on the background or print it on something that is going to be adhered to a layout.
Category 12: Journaling prompts. Use any of these prompts to create a lo that uses any of the 11 categories above:
*Create a lo about a mother or mother figure in your life. Include why they are important.
*Create a lo about a flower that is special to you or to someone else. Remember to add why itís special.
*Create a lo about a wedding or preparations of a wedding. This can be yours, someone elseís or someone you donít know (ie. The Royal family). Include details about the event.
*Create a lo about your all-time favorite movie(s) or movie(s) you have seen recently. Donít forget to explain why you chose this/these movie(s) if applicable.
