I made these for a swap and waited until everyone had received them before posting. Then I forgot them until someone asked me how they were made. Here they are, Linda.
Blick Studio Mini Canvas (2“ x 2”).
Paint wood and inside of frame–1st one–Adirondack Dimensional Pearls Denim.
2nd one–Createx Pearlized Airbrush Colors–Pearl Blue, heat dry on canvas
On the rest of them, I used both if I remember right.
Ten Seconds Studio Brrr Blue metal sheet 4“ x 4” embossed with Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder
On the second one which I did first, the metal came out debossed so I used polished stone technique to color the embossed side (denim, stream, stonewashed)
On the first one which I did second, I turned the metal over so it would emboss correctly.
I sanded the embossed sides to remove color.
On the back, I used a light weight spackle to fill in the debossed spaces. I probably could have skipped that step on this project since the depressions weren't deep and these ornaments won't be handled much.
I cut squares off a strip of Magenta Self-Adhesvie Metallic Embellishments, colored them with alcohol ink (Adirondack Denim and/or Pinata Baja Blue). I put those in the center of the back of the canvas.
I finally (after two years) used my Dremel. I drilled holes in the top and put 20-guage wire through it. I turned the wire around a bead to keep it from pulling back through, and on the top I used three more beads before bending the wire into an eye hook.
I used Distress Stickles, Picket Fence, around the inside edges.
I made the hangers by bending the wire on a large paper stump on one end and a smaller paper stump on the other end. I hammered some of them and liked the way that looked.
Note: Look for Dap Fast ‘N Final Lightweight Spackling. I found it at Lowe's after I finished this project. It's very light-weight and there's no warning on the label telling you not to use it with metal.
