One of my 'lil schnauzer babies. The journaling reads:

I unpacked Annie’s toy today....

When a new pup comes to stay with us, I pack up their toys and treasures so that no other dog can ruin them. Then, when they go to their forever home, they take a little bag home with their things, if they brought them...if not, we send some.

Annie came to us from an owner who didn’t want to take care of her anymore. She has a liver condition, and it has side effects like diarrhea, waking up at night....inconveniences.

Some folks have said...you must be a “people person” to do dog rescue. Well, no. There are many, many days that I don’t like people much....when I get e-mails that say “we’re looking for an out from this dog” and other sad things..it’s not like a dog can go to the classifieds and find an apartment!

Annie had a medical crisis 3 times in the first 6 months that she stayed here; so, the rescue board has agreed that she’s not “adoptable”. She’ll stay here with us as a “permafoster”.

Annie....11 lbs of cuddles and kisses....the pup who can jump as high as my waist, THROWS herself on me every morning to lick my face, the most talkative dog I’ve ever had, she of the expressive ears....I love you, baby girl. How could someone give you up?

When I unpacked her toy, Annie drug it to the front of her crate, and laid down to snuggle next to her bunny....with a ‘lil sigh. Welcome home, sweetheart.
