This is my son at 2 weeks old. It was our first outing and I took him with me to meet a friend at Dean and Deluca on a crisp spring day. The coffee shop is approximately half brick and half glass with wide windows all around. I had my son bundled up in soft blankets and strapped into his carrier car seat. I put the car seat on the restaurant table as we were leaving and took this quick close-up of his face, bathed in the natural light of the windows. It's one of my favorite pictures of him as wee little one. He's so new, his eyelashes hadn't even come in yet!
This sweet knit cap was given to us by the hospital volunteers when he was born and my DS wore it a lot in those early days. Because of it, I often called my son "Little Boy Blue" and would recite the Nursery Rhyme to him. It was familiar to me because my mother recited Nursery Rhymes to me all the time as a child and often read to me from books of rhymes, poems and fairy tales.
The journaling tag says: When you were a newborn, I called you Little Boy Blue because you were often snuggled up in this blue knit hat. The journaling strips are the words to the Nursery Rhyme of the LO title.
This was a really fun layout to do. I've had the title in my head for awhile and amassed an impressive collection of blue pp with this page in mind. :-) I had some blue Thickers but they didn't go with this Marrakesh line, so I dyed some ugly pink foam Thickers dark blue, then added a little bling. The script letters are a Doodlebug font.
This is for a couple of challenges. For the ribbon challenge, I matted the photo with ric rack, then hand made a ribbon flower using sheer cream and aqua ribbon topped with a blue button (upper L of layout). For the round we go challenge, I used a large scallop circle with punch-out flowers and five buttons (3 clear buttons on the circle, blue button on the flower and black button on the sheep's nose). Thanks for looking.
