What a great story - we have barn swallows that nest in the corner of our front porch every year for the past four years or more - and every year I take pics of the progress from the nest repairs to the egg sitting to the hatching and flying away - the funny thing about them is that they all come back to the nest at night for about a week after the babies learn to fly. You did a great job on your journaling and the layout is so pretty!
great photos, great lo - wonderful story. we had a hummingbird build a nest on top of our wind chimes. It is truly amazing to watch from nest to eggs to hatched lil hummingbirds. tfs.
One day I was in my scrap room and looked out the window to find this hummingbird making a nest in the speaker wire. Everyday I looked out to see her progress. She took days and days building this nest one tiny piece at a time. Then one day she was finished and plopped down in the nest so I figured there were eggs in there. Couldn't imagine how small a hummingbird egg must be, Lance and I watched and watched and then one day there were these tiny, tiny little birds. The mama bird brought them food and prtected the nest. We watched the birds grow, amazingly fast. We kept watch, knowing they would get big enough to fly away soon. One day Lance saw that only one bird was in the nest. The remaining bird fell out and so Lance picked him up and put him back in the nest. The next day the little bird flew out and right into the swimming pool. Lance picked him out of the pool and put the little bird back in the nest. The next day we saw the little bird flying all around the backyard. The other little one never came back so we imagined he met a terrible fate. Now the nest is empty and the little bird lives in the backyard. He is too fast to get a picture but he is a beautiful teal green with a red spot on his neck.
