Karen, it's always such a joyful experience to admire your amazing layouts, and this is no exception! Loved reading your wonderful description. What a magnificent doggie Rose is! Love how the transparency adds such a wonderful touch to this truly gorgeous layout! Love it so much!
That is such a gorgeous doggy! I love the page and think you really did her justice in all of her non-froufiness! :0) Love how the words are across the picture! Great job :0)
That transparency is an awesome touch!! I thought it was a digi layout for a second! Then I remembered how devoted you are to your traditional scrapbooking. ;) I love this layout. What a sweet puppy face and story. Sorry I missed this when you first posted it. I gotta get on here more often.
You know, I saw this lo of yours yesterday and as I was about to have a closer look my internet connection decided to freak out on me until this afternoon and now that I have a little quiet time I just have to tell you that I adore this page and what you did with it. That transparency looks fantastic and I just have to give it a try. As always Karen, your pet pages are unsurpassed and a joy and pleasure to look at and your stories never fail to make me smile.
The transparency look fantastic over this, it almost appears as a background! What a neat picture and story to go with it! Another perfectly polished and finished layout! Love this one!
Since Rose is a hard working dog, this is the perfect LO. Like you said, prtty but not feminine and girly. No way! It's strong and I absolutely LOVE the overlay you used.
Wow, Karen you've hit a home run with this layout!! It is just fantastic on every inch of it!!! Love how you've done the picture with the transparency!! The design of the layout is so complimentary of Rose's story! Thanks for sharing that along with your layout!!! :)
This looks absolutely fantastic!!! And what a beautiful story! I swear, it does look like she is smiling or even grinning from ear to ear!! And I love her coloring with the white looking like a heart at the top of her head!! Love the transparency too - it is the perfect touch here!!! Beautiful page, beautiful dog!
Excellent page! The transparency over her pic makes it stand out even more, and such an adorable pic to begin with! I like how you threaded the chain of the tag through the hole of the circle border, very clever!
Well, I'll say it again, you know how to showcase beloved furry family members like nobody else! You certainly achieved a joyous page, Karen! I love the small sheep sign~ LOL...perfect. The addition of the "she loves to work" embellie adds a touch of humor. I especially like the candid photo, and her bright eager eyes. The rounded inked corners are a nod to finishing details that you always inlcude. NICE~
What a gorgeous photo of this beautiful dog. Great layout. What you are doing with this series is awesome and heartwarming and you're doing a marvelous job and probably really having a wonderful time of it too.
First of all - probably one of my favorite lo's of all time! Great story behind it & just the look of sheer joy on her face is priceless. I have a border collie lab mix & I get it! Fabulous job - can't wait for the rest of the series!
Very touching story! I just love it! Your layouts really warm my heart - I feel I must read "Rose in a Storm" now!!!! And your page is just beautiful in every way! TFS!!!!!
This is the second page in the series that features the lovely Rose. Jon Katz's latest book, Rose in a Storm, is a novel that was inspired by life with Rose on his farm in upstate New York. The book was released earlier this month and is drawing great reviews. Jon, Maria, and their other Border Collie, Izzy, are currently on tour promoting the book. Rose does NOT like crowds, but did attend one book signing event at a local store. That was enough media exposure for her! Izzy, on the other hand, adores attention and knows how to work a crowd. He will be a great representative for Rose!
Although the book is a work of fiction, Jon has said repeatedly that Rose indeed has saved his life on a number of occasions and he could not have kept the farm going without her help. The book is a tribute to working dogs everywhere.
Rose is the farm's superintendent, of sorts. Not a person or animal comes to or leaves the farm without her knowledge. Jon says there is a map of the farm in Rose's brain. She knows when something is wrong and figures out solutions. No wonder working women around the world are drawn to her!
Rose was in her glory when Jon brought sheep back to the farm this past summer. Can you see the joy on her face as she anticipates getting back to work?
As I've said before, Rose is not a frou-frou kind of dog. I wanted to make this page joyous but not pretty. I placed a transparency over the photo and was pleased with how it turned out.
