I was tossing some ideas around in my head for Camilla's “Odd Papers” challenge at Swirlydoos and nothing really seemed to fit. Then, my DIL sent some photos from a zoo trip and I had my "aha" moment! Next, I had to turn the vague idea for a design into reality. I had taken a Macy's ad out of the paper and ripped out a few pieces and then cut a strip of cardboard to use as an accent, but none of the paper would cooperate with me. Finally!!! it occurred to me that the cardboard should be the background paper and that I just needed a bit of the Stripe pattern as accent and the rest just came together.
The Swirlydoos April Technique Kit was all about chipboard and the different ways that you can alter it. (Dusty Attic and Swirlydoos actually teamed up this month to hold a Chipboardpalooza Contest. You may want to take a peek into the Swirly Gallery; the entries are just amazing!!!) Anyway, this was my chance to experiment and learn, always a good thing! The DA hinges were altered using Krissy's awesome video. (She's right: the CA makes the copper streaks jump out at you!) I colored the DA brick wall with Fired Brick distress ink and dumped on a ton of Vintage Photo embossing powder and fired it all up with my heat gun.
