This is such a treasured photo and it makes a precious page! I'm glad he had faith to get him through the war and trials of life. Nicely patriotic, great details. This is a touching tribute~
What a lovely tribute. I have to say your dad sure was good looking! :) :) I do love uniforms. Too bad I didn't meet dh till after he was a Marine. :)
My paternal uncle was also in the Battle of the Buldge. he was wounded there too. He did receive the Purple heart & bronze star. I wonder if they knew each other.

Your Dad's story is amazing! I'm so glad that he made it home safely. You did a fantastic job on this page. Telling a story is what scrapping is all about!
breathtaking. amazing and such a wonderful tribute to an American Hero. gasp - maybe my fav LO on this entire forum all year. I LOVE tributes to our hero and this is just a jaw dropper. I agree, playing ball one day and then digging foxholes the next. Boggles my mind - but then again they are called the great generation for a reason.
Amazing layout. Love everything about it including the wonderful story. My mom did a shadow box of all my Dad's Korean War mementos and memories. Great keepsakes.
AMAZING!!!! You have created a page of stunning beauty and sentiment!!! All of the special touches that you put on this layout are perfect! Such a loving and heartfelt story, and you did your Dad a great honor creating this beautiful work!
Oh Wow your story almost made me cry! This is a such a wonderful tribute to your Dad. What a beautiful Patriotic / Heritage pg you have created. Great photo, very handsome man!!!
Your story gives me goosebumps. God bless him for sure and your family. Wonderful job.. just wonderful! Patriotic lo's are some of my favorite.. and I love your masking.
God bless your dad for his service to our wonderful country...what a beautiful tribute lo you made...it makes me proud to be an American because of people like him!
This is my Dad in his uniform after his return home from WWII. He was captured by German Soldiers, escaped and then wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. Dad was part of the fierce American resistance around Bastogne, Belgium. I used 2003 USPS issue Purple Heart Stamps. Mom bought these stamps and stored them in Dad's desk after he passed away.
When I look at this photo I wonder how a 17 year old kid that is playing football in high school, faces such seemingly insurmountable odds. I know for my dad, it was Faith and Family that brought him home.
