Layout Description
This was a LO that was part of a contest at the LSS in Jefferson City, MO. We were given a kit that contained one sheet of white cardstock, one sheet of blue cardstock, one sheet of velum that looked like orange bricks in a random pattern, one half sheet of velum with words relating to summer, a sheet of rub on words and a small bag of pink beads that looked like mini stones to me.

I took some photos of Isabel at the beach when she was 4 and since they came out looking like silhouettes, I used the bottom three and covered them with the velum with words, used the rest of the word velum, some blue and some of the brick velum to frame the main photo. I cut out the brick sheet to make it look as if the viewer is peering through a sea wall. I used some of the excess brick velum to create a word poem about summer and then surrounded it with the pink stones to seem as if it was etched in the sand and surrounded by sea glass. I attached a few pieces of the pink beads to look as if they had fallen from Isa's hands as she found and peered at the ocean.
I took the rest of the rub ons and made them into bits of graffiti on the broken wall. I then framed the whole scene with the blue border. It was my first time using a kit and working out how to use just the items I was given.

I won the competition.
