The picture at the bottom is a pic of the actual statue. The puzzle is a puzzle post card of David that I found while traveling in Florence. It all fell together when I found the 12 X 12 paper which had a picture of David.
The journaling says: "David is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture sculpted by the 26 year old named Michelangelo from 1501 to 1504. The marble statue portrays the Biblical King David in the nude. Unlike previous depictions of David which portray the hero after his victory over Goliath, Michelangelo chose to represent David before the fight contemplating the battle yet to come. It came to symbolize the defense of civil liberties embodied in the Florentine Republic, an independent city state threatened on all sides by the more powerful rival states and by the hegemony of the Medici themselves. The history of the statue of David precedes Michelangelo's work on it from 1501 to 1504. By the 20th century, Michelangelo's David had become iconic shorthand for "culture" and is endlessly reproduced and can be found everywhere. To protect it from damage, the original sculpture was moved in 1873 to the Accademia Gallery in Florence, where it attracts many visitors. It should be very easy to find one of the most popular statutes in a city. However, that proved not to be the case for us. We found tons of table top size David sculptures and life sized replicas but could not find the original David. I had pretty much given up on finding him and was happy to settle with the picture of David's booty that I snapped as we passed him in the park. I was happy however that JR found and took great pictures of the original David. Thanks JR. Puzzle solved."
